The White House readout states that the meeting “was part of the effort to maintain open lines of communication and responsibly manage competition in the relationship” following the Xi-Biden talks in San Francisco in November. The meeting sets the stage for a planned phone call between President Xi Jinping and President Joe Biden “at some point in the coming months”, per a background press briefing from the White House. The airport is anxiety inducing as you can see so many people rushing as they might miss their flight.China Briefing Team Reading Time: 98 minutes After immigration, is another queue to check your carry on which is equally slow. Beware of officers asking for money as well - Yes I witness the person infront of me having to pay for a bribe if not he was not able to pass through. You would then queue for the immigration to get the stamp. After checking in our bags, you would need to double check that your check in baggage passes their mini initial inspection. AND only managed to passed immigration and reached the gate at 7.30am. I arrived at the airport at 5.30am despite the flight being at 7.50am. The usual safe bet is arriving at the airport 2 hours early but I would recommend arriving 3 hours early. When you arrive in HCM, the queues are long and slow. Carry your bags on the shoulder that is not facing the road and try your best to not use your camera and IPhone so openly in public. There has been many cases of theft even when you are just walking on the streets. Vietnam isn’t as safe as you think it is. If you are carrying a shoulder bag, try to face in between you and the driver to avoid getting robbed. Some things to note is the helmet might be big for some and so just hold the neck strap for precaution. I took the grabbike in Vietnam and it was an experience to remember. If you are travelling alone/in smaller groups, try out the grab bike option. Majority roads are filled with grab bikes. In Vietnam, the traffic is crazily packed. I would recommend just buying a SIM that states the amount of GB that has the fastest speed. For example, first 1GB is 4G and after it is unlimited at 3G. Meaning no access to TikTok as they are banned & you can’t do anything about it. Many SIM Cards sold on Lazada, Shopee and Klook are actually HK/ China SIM cards. This is advice applies to all countries - Check the origin location of your SIM Card & don’t fooled by “Unlimited Data”. Things I honestly wish I knew before traveling to Vietnam!
